Exclusive interview. KWHCoin - Global Renewable Energy Company
Nov 25, 2018 by Rico Wise

BASE.INFO team has interviewed Monica Shepard the COO at KWHCoin project. We have asked the most topical questions to get acquainted with the project and to learn the future plans of the KWHCoin team.

Please welcome, Monica Shepard.

Do you remember the day, when you and your team decided to launch this project? Can you tell us about it?

Our CEO, Girard Newkirk had been working on a vision to bring energy to underserved populations around the world. At the time he had also been involved in a few blockchain projects so it was at that moment he realized he could use blockchain technology and cryptocurrency to establish a way to bring clean reliable energy to those that are not connected to any type of utility grid.

Could you briefly describe your project?

Our mission is to provide clean energy to the 1.2 billion people around the globe. Our further mission is to offer affordable energy solutions to rural populations who at the moment spends 1/3 of their income to high energy costs. We are developing a platform that will contain all types of Distributed Energy Resources. We are creating a smart grid that will export energy to remote locations across the world. We are essentially creating the (IOE) Internet of Energy.

Why it differs among the other cryptocurrency ideas? What main feature can be the significant one?

We are different in that we are opening our platform for peer to peer trading of renewable energy resources. We are also building the infrastructure that will connect remote locations to our blockchain platform. The most significant feature about our project is that we are physically going on the grounds to install solar home systems, build micro-grids and install all types of physical renewable energy infrastructure that will be added as energy nodes onto the KWHCoin Blockchain.

What are 3 main difficulties in running the cryptocurrency project?

We look at this more as a blockchain project that uses cryptocurrency as a liberation technology. We can see how the focus has shifted in the past several months since more eyes are on cryptocurrency and what blockchain technology was really designed to do. Our most challenging but rewarding moments is educating our community and others on the positive impact that blockchain technology can have on any project by offering unique longterm solutions.

What about the legal restrictions? What are your thoughts on the subject?

We do not see regulations as restrictions. There has to be checks and balances with any situation.

Describe your team in a few sentences? What do you value in your colleagues?

Our team is diverse, intelligent, passionate and hard working. We all believe in this mission of connecting people to the grids edges. We also have a mission as a team to assist those that are in need and want to offer a solution to help their community. One of the things I am most proud of in my team is our commitment for social change. We established a social impact agenda as part of our blockchain project. We believe that we have to do more than just bring resources to the undeserved. We also have to equip them with the tools they will need to become a vibrant sustainable community.

Could you tell us about one error in project’s development that provided a great lesson to your team?

We are a passionate team that want to make a difference in our society and in our world. We got a little ahead of ourselves as visionaries wanting to do everything all at once at the same pace. We later realized that we cannot change the world all in one day, which allowed us to set realistic goals in a realistic timeframe. That has been a tremendous help for our team, partners and our community.

What are your thoughts about the future of the blockchain in the world? What industries will be influenced most of all?

Blockchain technology is our future. I believe this technology can be used in all industries such as Healthcare, Finance, Education, Transportation and Energy. We have partnered with our local Community College and will be offering our very own Blockchain Courses starting in January 2019. This technology is not going away and if used correctly can be a tremendous benefit with regards to security, efficiency, cost savings and tracking.

Can you give a piece of advice to our readers?

My advice to your readers is to focus on the uniqueness of Blockchain Technology and the vision behind this platform. I know we can sometimes get caught up in the cryptocurrency and lose the purpose behind the project. The more you learn about the technology, the more you will begin to see how it could benefit your everyday lifestyle.
